Robert Earl Keen, What I Really Mean

This is my first entry.  Obviously.  The Steeler game is on and Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson just sang the National Anthem.  I turned the sound down (but I kept watching.  It's Jessica Simpson.  I mean, I'm not dead, you know).  I'm going to try to use the rest of the day to relax a bit, and then try to put the finishing touches on my album.  Yeah, it should have been done last month, I know.  But I wrote a couple of songs since then, and I really like them, so they're probably going to be on there.  As soon as I finish recording them.

Done recording.  Done with the artwork.  Sent everything off to the CD duplication factory before noon yesterday.  It's looking like this thing's going to be ready by the middle of October.  It's very strange because sometimes I never thought this day would come, and sometimes I think it should have happened a long time ago.  If I'd have put this CD out last year, it would have been an entirely different project.  This past year, I've written some things I'm really proud of.  There's a tune called "Romeo" on the CD that I've been pretty quietly excited about.  It's kind of a departure for me, and pretty much put it on the CD to please myself.  Well today, my buddy Ray (from One Big Dakota) took the time to tell me that he thought it was one of the best things I'd ever written.  It was a completely unsolicited comment, and it made my day.  I only hope that folks like it when they hear it as well.
